The Honey Jar is a 1000 square foot audio workshop in DUMBO Brooklyn offering discrete, class-A, console recording, a spacious live room plus an array of vintage microphones, processing and instruments.  It was founded in 2010 by Devin Greenwood and Denison Witmer as an affordable creative space with an emphasis on craft, process and aesthetics.

 

Devin Greenwood is a New York City-based audio/visual artist, composer and musician. In 2019, He was profiled on the cover of Tape Op Magazine for his production and mixing on David Lang's Symphony For Broken Instruments (issue #133). He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in music composition at Princeton University. www.devingreenwood.com

Carlos Hernandez is a musician, engineer and producer from Brooklyn, NY. After a decade of holding recording sessions at the Silent Barn and other ad hoc spaces around NYC, he joined the Honey Jar in 2019 and has been an engineer-in-residence ever since. Carlos has recorded, mixed, produced and arranged for such artists as Princess Nokia, Palehound, L’Rain, Juan Wauters, Frankie Cosmos, Hawa, Crosslegged, Dianna Lopez, Gustaf, Rachika Nayar, Sam Evian, Nappy Nina, Mr Twin Sister, Eartheater, and countless others. 


His main musical project, Ava Luna, has been described by the New York Times as “...post-soul... pulsating from one energy to another, suggesting art project and ritual.”

His 2022 debut as Carlos Truly has been described by Pitchfork as “an excellent solo album of minimalist funk and R&B pared down to its barest essence.”
